Rust Repair Process and Solutions
There a great number of companies that offer rust conversion and repair products.
There are a few out there whose solution is similar to our Rust Attacker
product. What makes our solution work better is the combination of the
Salt Attacker and the Rust Attacker. Using Rust Attacker alone will work,
but not as well.
At EZ Green Solutions, we care about the environment and while the acid
based solutions work really well for removing and converting rust, we cannot
approve of them because of the danger they pose for the user and the
environment.
Step 1 - surface preparation
Preparing the surface is fast and simple. Just brush off the loose
flakes (use a hammer to pound the big flakes if applicable). Once the
flakes are knocked off, wash and wipe down the surface to make sure dirt and
grease is removed.
Step 2 - remove salts

Remove the hidden salts and chlorides that facilitate the corrosion and rust.
Use our bio friendly salt attacker and simply spray on the area to be repaired.
Salt Attacker takes about 4 minutes to dissolve the salts.
Step 3 - convert rust

While the surface is still moist and damp from the salt attacker, either spray or brush on the Rust
Attacker. Rust attacker will only affect the areas that are oxidized and
rusted. It will dry clear on the other areas. Rust Attacker will
penetrate 2-3 mm into the rusted surface and will turn black in 2 to 4 hours.
Rust Attacker penetrates into the affected areas and in case there are some
parts that did not get enough Rust Attacker, it is best to apply a second coat
once the first coat has turned black. Rust Attacker will be tacky in about
2 hours and depending on how moist the area was, will be dry in 4 or 5 hours.
Step 4 - protect the repair

When the rust repair is dry and the Rust Attacker has turned black, you
can go ahead and treat the areas with our Super Metal Guard bio friendly metal
protector and corrosion inhibitor. You can either spray on or brush on a
thin coat over all the metal surface - not just the affected areas. Super
Metal Guard will take about 24 hours to dry.
